Construction of new Wemmers Tanktransport location officially kicks off

On Friday, February 6th, construction of the new Wemmers Tanktransport location in the Netherlands officially and festively kicked off. Located in in the south west of the Netherlands near Gorinchem, the site covers approximately 18,000 m².

The new location will consist of an office, a modern workshop, a car wash, and a spacious parking lot for trucks and trailers. This will create a future-proof work environment for our employees and facilities that will accommodate the continued growth of our company.

The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held by Yvonne Blokland-Wemmers and Elly van Wijk-Wemmers, great-granddaughters of the original founder, Anton Wemmers, and both employed by our company. They performed the festive groundbreaking ceremony together with Jogé Nijhof, supervisory director at Nijhof-Wassink Group.

Continuing to build on growth and the future

Since 2022, Wemmers Tanktransport has been part of Nijhof-Wassink Group, an international family business with companies in the logistics and automotive sectors.

According to Bertil Bouwhuis, managing director of Wemmers and Nijhof-Wassink, new construction is essential: “We need to continue building Wemmers’ future. The lease in Bleskensgraaf expires at the end of 2026. We also want to offer our colleagues a fresh, pleasant, and modern workplace.

” In the search for a new location, we considered a future-proof location where growth, sustainability, and our transport network were essential. This proved impossible in Bleskensgraaf, where Wemmers has been located since 1880.

“In Schelluinen, near the Gorinchem interchange and the A27 and A15 highways, we did find and acquire the perfect location. Optimization is essential for our service delivery. This location will contribute to that,” says Bouwhuis.

VolkerWessels is handling the construction of the new site. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026.
