One of them is Fuji Oil Europe from Ghent, a leading producer and supplier of vegetable oils and fats, and cocoa coatings and fillings. Fuji Oil Europe supplies its products to customers who use them for their end products. Chocolate, biscuits, snacks, ice cream, confectionery, and dairy products are just some of the end products where Fuji Oil Europe’s ingredients are used.

With Europe as the primary market, logistics is also an important part of daily operations. Supply Chain Manager Evelien De Bruycker is responsible for the logistics department. “On the one hand, we arrange the supply of raw materials we need for production and on the other hand, we take care of transporting bulk products and packaged goods to our international customers”.

Flexibility in logistics

An important aspect in the production process is flexibility, which is directly related to logistics. “As an in-house transporter, Wemmers Tanktransport plays an important role. Wemmers Tanktransport takes care of both the supply of raw materials to our site in Ghent and the transport of Fuji Oil’s products to customers. They ensure that they can unload or load products precisely according to our needs, and are also able to anticipate quickly and load earlier if necessary. This enables us to utilise our capacity better as an organisation”.

Fuji Oil Europe and Wemmers Tanktransport have been working together for many years. “It is a true family business in which you don’t just feel like a number”, says Evelien. “We have a fixed contact person at Wemmers Tanktransport, which works very nicely. Communication between our teams is efficient. They also work with a permanent group of drivers who load and unload the products at our site. They know all the details on site and are aware of how to handle our products. They really feel like they are part of our team. It takes specific knowledge to load, transport and unload our products at our customer’s premises under exactly the right conditions. That is precisely because we develop so many customer-specific products”.
